Komedio Comedy is a network/guild/justice league of nerdy comedians and performers in the Bay Area. Together they have been traversing the convention circuit with their nerd centric comedy providing giggles and gags for every type of fandom. Komedio Comedy boasts a diverse background, dedication to multiple fandoms, and each member produces and hosts their own shows ranging from a video game tournament, a comic book store comedy show, to live comedy sketches. Komedio Comedy has performed at Silicon Valley Comic Con, San Francisco Comic Con, and Gen Con 50.

Took Edalow

Took is a flippant and anarchistic fae creature from the land of Brooklyn. They are a comedic and musical performance artist/activist…because that’s totally not a “head up their own arse” way to describe oneself. They perform as a Barbra Streisand Burlesque character named Barbra Bitch who wears Star of David pasties. They have performed this character and other acts at The Red Room, Under St Marks Theatre, The Kraine Theatre, Q.E.D, Sidewalk Cafe and more. She is a regular performer at monthly show Circus of Dreams at Bizarre Bar.

Took’s life skills from hitchhiking, sleeping in parks and living on a hippie commune. They are working on characters with messiah complexes based on these experiences. They can be found on instagram and twitter at @2kedalow

Rosa Escandón is a New York based writer and comic. She’s been seen on Buzzfeed Video, Seriously.TV, and is a proud alumna of Bloomers: All Female Sketch Comedy. The editor of Forbes magazine once called her writing, “interesting, substantive and voyeuristic,” now as an editor at The Tusk, some of her best work has been ranking all of the us Presidents based on their pets.

She produces comedy shows and video projects, including the web series she wrote. She has been the member of many improv teams, and is performing in the fest with one of her favorites, Mostly Sara(h)! Sparkle co-produced the first annual TwoProv Tournament at QED. She is excited to work on Cinder Block for a second year, this time as a festival coordinator and looks forward to another great year!

Maurice Licorish

Maurice Licorish is a stand up comedian and writer from Baltimore, MD who now lives in Brooklyn, NY. Developing his style in Washington DC, Maurice specializes in high energy, absurdist storytelling, producing two monthly shows in Brooklyn called Park Dope at Halyards and Assorted Nuts at The Sampler.
His lyrical sensibility has lead him to regularly perform at Q.E.D. and Creek and the Cave, and has performed in the Cinder Block Comedy Festival and the Funniest College Competition where he won 3rd place.
Maurice is a kinetic ball of energy and brings his worldview to shows all around New York.

Most recently she has performed at the San Francisco Comic Con, and just participated in the 2017 SF Sketchfest. She performs regularly at the Punch Line and Cobb’s, throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

Jeffrey Joseph is an Emmy-nominated comedy writer, an accomplished stand-up comedian, and an award-winning actor. He starred in the feature film The Wrong Mr. Johnson and has appeared opposite such stars as Will Smith, Whoopie Goldberg, and Bill Murray.

On TV, Jeff was a regular on The Popcorn Kid, HBO’s Dream On, Fox’s The Late Show, Haywire, and Comic Strip Live.

He’s also written and developed television pilots for Fox, ABC, MGM, Imagine, and Castle Rock. As a stand-up comedian, he has appeared on national television dozens of times, including on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Jeffrey also finds the time to work as a Teaching Artist in under-served NYC High Schools. He spends his spare time writing flossy bios in the third person and brushing his hair.

As a former inner-city high school teacher, Amy’s dry comedic style and general outlook on life stem from an edgier perspective.

You’ve seen Amy on Fox’s Laughs. She’s opened for Matt Braunger, Gary Gulman, and Ryan Hamilton. Amy is a regular at Chicago’s Laugh Factory and Zanies and performs at clubs across the United States. She placed 1st in Chicago’s Best New Comedian Competition at Jokes and Notes and 2nd in the 2015 Devil Cup Comedy Fest in NYC.

Arish Singh

The comedy of Arish Singh, with its unique fusion of absurdist humor and political commentary, has been praised by many, and described by many others as, “definitely not my thing.”

Singh has opened for national acts like Tim Heidecker (Tim & Eric), Hasan Minhaj (The Daily Show), and W. Kamau Bell (Totally Biased), and has performed on stand-up showcases like Hot Tub with Kurt Braunohler & Kristen Schaal, Andy Kindler’s Particular Show, and Chicago’s Comedians You Should Know.

Singh has been featured in the Chicago Comedy Exposition, Crom Comedy Festival, Minneapolis’s 10,000 Laughs, and the Indie Orlando Comedy Festival. Singh appears in the 2016 Triumph the Insult Comic Dog Election Special, not as comedian but as a protester kicked out of a rally in his home state of Iowa. Though the protest had nothing to do with comedy, after it became national news, Singh responded by putting on a series of fundraiser shows to raise money for anti-hate crime organizations and to raise awareness of the rightwing campaign of Islamophobia has affected Sikhs, Muslims, and brown folks at large.

Singh co-produces SolidHilarity, a comedy show that raises money for activists and labor unions, and is a writer for the live Chicago talk show Good Evening with Pat Whalen.

They were an improv house team at Upright Citizen Brigade Theatre, NY, from 2014-2015 and put up the long running sketch show “A Journey Thru Black History” from 2015-2016. In 2016 Astronomy Club was Comedy Central’s Comic to Watch for sketch comedy. Members of Astronomy Club have been featured on NBC, HBO, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, Funny Or Die, Above Average, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Orange Is The New Black.

Elsa Waithe is a comedian, activist, and instructor from Norfolk, VA. Now residing in Brooklyn, NY, Elsa’s comedy is a mix of lighthearted but critical jabs at attitudes and issues around homosexuality and race, but her 2 favorite topics are weed and herself.

She’s been featured on NPR’s This American Life, hosted the monthly comedy show “Affirmative Laughter” at The Experiment Comedy Gallery, and now teaches stand-up comedy to teen girls with Gold Comedy #ComedyForGirls.

Yogi Paliwal hails from the Pacific Northwest and now resides in Brooklyn, N.Y. His comedy has been featured at the Sasquatch Music Festival, the Neptune Theatre opening for Tig Notaro and at festivals around the U.S and Canada. He co-produces the standup web series No Your Cool featuring New York Cities funniest freshest comedians. Yogi is also a partner of Light at 3 records a comedy label based in New York.

His eccentric personal style, and commanding stage prescience add to his ability to breakdown biases people hold about one another. His standard for his comedy is to always be consistent, have substance, be hilarious and unpredictably silly. His act is a hint of genius in a stew of snake oil.

If you were to ask Yogi how would you describe your standup? He’d say it’s “Intellectual absurdity.” If you asked him what that means he would say, “My material isn’t smart, but you need to be smart to see how stupid the joke is.”
